Oliver! 2009

This summer, actors and musicians from Eltham College returned to the oliverposterEdinburgh Festival for the third consecutive year, this time to stage the Lionel Bart musical Oliver!

The production will be performed at Eltham College from 16th-18th September in the Anthony Barnard Hall:

Wed 16th at 7.30 pm
Thurs 17th at 7.30 pm
Fri 18th at 5.00 pm and at 8.00 pm

After the major BBC television series I'd do Anything and the show's triumphant return to the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, Oliver! is enchanting a whole new generation of fans. Eltham College is thrilled to have secured the rights to such a classic, joyous show and took the production to C venues, a stone's throw from the Royal Mile at the very heart of the Festival.

Here are some images from that production:

The production features a motley collection of villains, thieves and petty criminals drawn from the ranks of Eltham College and some local talent from South East London. Nathan Smoker from Eltham College Junior School will be stepping directly from the West End production to the Eltham College version. The role of Oliver is to be played by 11-year-old Joseph Beesley, who is about to join the Eltham College Senior School. The show is directed by Ben Pollard, with musical direction of its ten-piece band by Robbie Jacobs and choreography by Shermaine Slocombe.
